SAFETY

Thanks for choosing Dragon Marine Systems. Our systems are engineered to deliver reliability and performance — but like anything electrical, safe installation is critical. Please review these key safety tips to ensure a smooth and secure setup.
Wiring UP panel ( Before Attempting ANy Work )
  • If you are not a competent or qualified person please consult one before connecting up your installation (where required).
  • Always physically disconnect the battery/s before starting work.
FUsing Your NEW D.M.S System
  • Always install fuses of the correct size — never larger than supplied. The correct fuse is there to protect your boat, not just the panel.
  • Never replace a fuse supplied with one of our panels for a fuse with a larger value. The fuse size when supplied has been calculated for the expected load and more importantly the wiring size supplied.
  • When you purchase a fused panel, the fuse on the panel is there to protect the panel, not the load/s that you put on the panel. So you may need to fit other fuses of a lower value to protect your devices.
If a fuse blows, it's doing its job. Never replace it with a higher-rated one. Find the cause, fix it, and move forward safely.
Wiring Loom Fitting
  • Never allow the wiring loom to hang off your panel. Allow 30 to 50 cm of free cable maximum before you start clipping your cable up. After that use plastic plumbing 'P' clips every 30 cm to hold up your wiring.
  • Try to clip up your wiring under the gun-rail so that nothing can fall on it. Avoid running your wires through the bilge or under the engine, the oil will affect the insulation.
  • If you order a wiring loom from us it will be bound every 30 cm, covered in a webbing insulator and enveloped in a solid plastic flexible tube.  This is to stop the wires rubbing together - on the boat and to prevent accidental damage. Please do the same yourself.
Always use the correct gauge of wire for your expected load. Longer runs = greater resistance = greater wire size needed.
Electrical Systems After Purchase
Every D.M.S panel is fully bench-tested before shipping. If a fault occurs, you're covered with a one-year return-to-base warranty.
